1 What We Do
unshorten.app is a URL analysis tool that follows redirect chains and returns metadata about URLs. We only process the URLs you submit — we do not access, store, or proxy any page content.
2 Data Collection
We minimize data collection. Here's what we process:
- URLs you submit: Processed in real-time to follow redirects. Not stored after the request completes.
- Pro purchase email: When you purchase a Pro plan via Stripe, your email address is collected by Stripe for payment processing and used by us to deliver your Pro key via transactional email (Resend). We do not store your email address independently — it is only accessed through the Stripe session.
- Pro keys:
After a successful purchase, a unique Pro key (
pro_…) is generated and stored in Upstash Redis. This key is used solely to authenticate Pro-tier API requests and enforce higher rate limits. - Analytics: We use Google Analytics 4 to understand usage patterns (page views, user flow). Data is anonymized and not used for advertising.
- No accounts: We don't require registration or collect personal information for the core service. Pro access is key-based — no account is created.
3 Cookies
We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how visitors use our site. GA4 uses cookies to collect anonymous usage data.
- _ga: Used to distinguish users. Expires after 2 years.
- _ga_*: Used to persist session state. Expires after 2 years.
We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. You can opt out of Google Analytics by installing the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on .
4 Third-Party Services
We may use the following third-party services:
- Google Analytics 4: Website analytics to understand usage patterns. Google Privacy Policy
- Stripe: Payment processing for Pro plan purchases. Stripe collects billing information directly — we never see or store your card details. Stripe Privacy Policy
- Resend: Transactional email delivery for Pro key distribution after purchase. Resend Privacy Policy
- Upstash Redis: Stores Pro keys and rate-limit counters. No personally identifiable information is stored — only opaque keys and IP-based request counts. Upstash Privacy Policy
- Netlify: Hosting and serverless functions.
- DNS providers: For resolving URLs you submit.
These services have their own privacy policies and may collect standard server logs (IP addresses, timestamps).
5 Share Links
When you create a share link, the analysis results are compressed and encoded directly in the URL. No data is stored on our servers — all information is contained within the link itself. Anyone with the link can view the results.
6 Your Rights
We store minimal data: Pro keys (opaque tokens) and IP-based rate-limit counters. Neither is linked to your name or email on our side. If you'd like your Pro key revoked or have questions about your data, please contact us.
7 Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new policy.
